About Amalfi Planter

At 650W x 1050H, this urn stands just over a metre before you put a plant in it. The walls are high-fired Atlantis terracotta, kiln-fired to a rustic aged patina, and heavy enough that the vessel holds its own in exposed garden courtyards, on alfresco terraces and either side of a commercial entry. Inside there is soil depth for an advanced topiary tree, a specimen palm, or weeping foliage that wants room to settle.

The second use is water. In our Malaga workshop we turn the Amalfi into a ready-to-run feature, and you choose the arrangement before we start: self-contained, with water bubbling at the top rim and recirculating inside the vessel, or seated over an in-ground basin so the overflow cascades down the outside of the clay.

Compare urn profiles across the Atlantis Pots & Planters collection, or see the converted versions in Water Features & Fountains. If you are weighing up the fountain option, come and stand beside a running one in Malaga — the sound is the part you cannot judge from a photograph.

Common questions

What does the water feature conversion involve?

We seal the interior with an impermeable two-pack waterproofing compound, drill and seal the plumbing conduits, then fit a matched submersible pump with an adjustable flow valve. It all happens in the Malaga workshop, and we run the feature and check the water distribution before you collect it or we deliver.

Will it need topping up through a Perth summer?

Weekly is about right. Open water flow and warm breezes evaporate more than most people expect, and the quickest way to kill a pump is to let it run dry, so keep the intake fully submerged and top up with a garden hose.

Where should the urn sit?

On something level and compacted — a concrete pad, solid paving, or reinforced decking. At 1050 mm high it carries real weight once it holds damp soil or water, so walk it into position empty and fill it where it stands.

Do I need pot feet if I plant it out?

On a hard surface, yes. Terracotta pot feet lift the base so the drainage hole cannot silt up against paving or decking, water runs clear of the root ball, and you avoid the dark ring a permanently wet pot base leaves on a patio.
