About Waverley Water Feature
The circular top section is the constant here; what sits underneath is your decision. Mount it on a matching cylindrical column and the rounded line carries all the way to the ground. Set it on a square pedestal and you pick up the straight edges of the paving instead. Both take the same top.
Whichever profile you go with, the plinth needs a minimum base width of 500 mm. Narrower than that and the top section loses its bearing, and the reservoir stops holding enough water to keep the pump covered. Height is open — plinths are customisable, so the overall proportions can be worked out against the wall or bed the feature stands near. Supplied as a complete set with the top section, a 500 mm cylinder and a circulating pump, the Waverley runs plug-and-go once it is filled and connected to power. To compare the two plinth shapes in the flesh, view the water features and fountains collection or contact us about a product or project for custom plinth sizing.
Why does the plinth need to be at least 500 mm wide?
Two reasons that pull in the same direction. A 500 mm minimum diameter or width gives the top section the structural footprint it needs to sit securely, and it leaves the plinth with enough reservoir volume to keep the circulating pump covered.
Cylindrical plinth or square pedestal?
A cylinder follows the rounded contours of the top bowl, so the piece reads as one continuous silhouette. A square pedestal breaks that line on purpose and lines up with rectangular courtyard pavers or a boundary wall. Same top section either way.
What should the Waverley stand on?
A firm, level surface — reinforced concrete pavers or a poured slab. Level matters more than people expect: if the plinth sits off true, water cascades down one side of the top section rim and leaves the other edge dry.
Summer running — what needs checking?
Heat and afternoon sea breezes both pull water out of the reservoir faster than you would think. Check the level every two to three days through summer and top up with fresh water so the pump intake stays fully covered. Clear fallen leaves monthly.
