About Cadiz Urn
At 24 x 25, the Cadiz Urn (AL-0251) keeps the silhouette of an old Iberian storage vessel without asking for much display depth. The body is high-fired terracotta and the wall surface stays lightly irregular — rustic, not machine-smooth.
The black ancient TDI finish is applied by hand. It leaves a mineral-dusted surface in charcoal and deep earthen tones, closer to an archaeological artefact than a glaze, and it does its best work against crisp white walls, natural timber joinery or a stone credenza.
That patina is the reason for one firm rule: interior settings only. Timber shelving, stone console tables, credenzas and recessed display niches all suit it. Style it with dried or preserved botanicals, and keep it clear of open windows and irrigation spray.
Why is the Cadiz Urn recommended for indoor placement only?
The black ancient TDI finish is a hand-applied interior patina, not a weather coating. Our outdoor vitrified Atlantis pots are built for rain, UV radiation and irrigation runoff; this surface dusting is not, and repeated exposure wears it back over time.
Can I display living plants inside the Cadiz Urn?
There is no external drainage saucer, so the urn works best as a sculptural vessel styled with dried botanicals, preserved foliage or artificial stems. If you want something living in it, drop a potted nursery container inside and sit that on a sealed drip saucer so water never reaches the terracotta.
What cleaning does the black ancient TDI finish need?
Dry dusting, and nothing beyond it. A microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush lifts dust out of the texture. Keep chemical cleaners, abrasive pads and standing water away from the surface — soaking softens the patina and a scouring pad will take it off.
Which interior settings suit the Cadiz Urn?
