Custom Water Feature

Pick the bowl first. Any low bowl in our Polystone Resin range can be plumbed as a fountain, sitting over a 1700 mm diameter below-ground basin moulded in pure fibreglass. The water storage disappears under your paving and only the bowl shows at surface height.

About Custom Water Feature

Choosing the bowl is the first decision, and it sets everything that follows. Any low bowl from our Polystone Resin collection can be converted into a fountain built to your site dimensions, and because the range runs across a broad spread of diameters, depths and colours, you can match the water surface to your courtyard proportions, your paving, or the line of an existing alfresco area.

Underneath sits a 1700 mm diameter basin in pure fibreglass. Burying the reservoir keeps every part of the water containment below paving, gravel or decking, so nothing reads at ground level except the bowl itself. Fibreglass holds its shape against the pressure of backfilled soil without cracking or rotting, which is the whole reason we specify it rather than something lighter. Start by working through the polystone resin planters range to find your vessel, then contact us about a product or project and we will work back from that bowl to the sizing and the workshop conversion.

Common questions

Which Polystone Resin low bowls can be converted into a water feature?

Any of them, provided it is a low bowl. The adaptation happens in our Malaga workshop, so you can work through the diameters, depths and finishes until the water surface area and the proportion of the piece suit the space it is going into.

What has to happen on site before the 1700 mm fibreglass basin goes in?

Dig a level pit slightly wider than the 1700 mm basin diameter, then bed the base on roughly 50 to 75 mm of compacted sand. Run a spirit level across it before you backfill. A reservoir that goes in flat stays flat once the surrounding ground load comes onto it.

What covers the reservoir once it is in the ground?

The sub-surface fibreglass tank comes fitted with a rigid structural support grid. Most jobs finish flush over that grid with decorative river stones, paving units, or timber decking cut neatly around the central bowl pedestal.

Why is pure fibreglass specified for the underground basin?

Because it is impermeable to moisture, unaffected by soil chemicals and roots, and keeps its shape under backfill pressure. Flexible plastic liners are where leaks start, and under a paved courtyard is a poor place to discover one.
