About Polystone Resin Tall Round Taper
Three vessels behave differently to one. The eye moves between them instead of settling, and the sound spreads rather than concentrating in a single spout. Each of these tapered urns measures 400 mm in diameter and stands 900 mm high, moulded in Polystone Resin composite so the surface carries the look of dressed stonework. After eighteen years of Perth summers I have watched what our heat and salt air do to fountain finishes, and the resin composite takes it. Courtyards, alfresco dining areas and commercial landscapes all suit the arrangement.
Everything that makes it work sits below the surface. A reinforced open fibreglass pond is set flush into a garden bed or a paved terrace, and a structural plinth with a heavy-duty grate carries the urns above it. South West river stones are spread across the grate to conceal the reservoir and the plumbing. Water circulates continuously from a central pump, and because each urn holds its own ball valve, you can match the bubbling across all three or step the heights down one vessel to the next.

Can each urn bubble at a different height?
Yes. Each of the three urns carries its own internal ball valve off the central water delivery manifold. Open or close them to bring the bubbling action into line across all three vessels, or stagger the valves so the fountain heights step down from one urn to the next.
What does installing the concealed pond involve?
The reinforced open fibreglass pond is recessed below ground level into surrounding soil, turf or a paved recess. Get it sitting dead level, because everything above it follows that line. The structural plinth and grate then go over the pond, the urns are plumbed and aligned, and South West river stones are distributed across the grate.
Through a Perth summer, what needs checking?
The water level, once a week. Evaporation takes more volume in warm weather than most people expect, and the central pump has to stay fully submerged. Let it drop below the pump and it draws air, then shuts down on thermal cutout. Top up before it reaches that point.
Will algae or waterline marks build up on the urns?
Run the feature through daylight hours and the movement itself does most of the work against algae. Add a non-toxic water feature conditioner periodically. Any film that forms along the waterline lifts off the moulded resin composite with a damp cloth and plain water; swimming pool chlorine and acid treatments will flatten the surface sheen, so keep both away from it.
What power supply does the pump need?
A standard 240V outdoor weatherproof GPO power outlet protected by a residual current device (RCD). Site it in a sheltered spot close to the reservoir so the lead is not run across paving or open garden bed.
