About Ball Planter
Up to four times the wall thickness of a conventional lightweight container — that is the reason to choose this pot over a lighter sphere. The dense composite shell carries its own ballast and resists outward root pressure, so large shrubs, architectural cycads and specimen palms stay anchored when a coastal breeze picks up. The same pot suits a residential garden, a commercial courtyard, or a civic landscape where the planting runs at scale.
Four graduated sizes share one geometry, which matters when a scheme plants at more than one scale. CG5065/32 measures 32 x 25 and sits on a low garden wall or in an interior atrium. CG5065/110 at 110 x 72 is the size for a main entry. Between them, CG5065/54 (54 x 43) and CG5065/82 (82 x 57) work either side of a doorway, or grouped in layers through a courtyard.
Two material groups to choose from: Polystone Resin in White, Cement Grey, Brown Terrazzo, Charcoal Black and Dark Grey, and Light Stone in White, Natural Grey, Black, Dark Grey and White Crack Cimstone. Both hold their colour through a Perth summer, and where a project has to match a specified paint colour, our Malaga workshop applies custom Dulux Weathershield finishes, with gloss options on request. Matching planter stands can be supplied as well, lifting the curved base clear of the paving so water drains away instead of pooling underneath. The 110 is worth a quick conversation before you order — or come and see all four sizes together at the Malaga showroom.
Common questions
Does the extra wall thickness help the plant, or only the pot?
It helps the plant. A wall built up to four times thicker than a standard lightweight pot takes far longer to transmit heat inward, so the potting mix and the fine feeder roots near the wall sit through a hot Perth afternoon at a steadier temperature. Less heat in the mix means less moisture stress and slower drying.
What should the 110 x 72 sit on?
Something solid and level: a concrete slab, compacted roadbase, or pavers that will carry the weight. At 110 x 72 it is the soil that makes it heavy, not the pot. Set it empty in its final position first, then add drainage cell, geofabric and potting mix, because once it is planted out you will not want to move it again. On a balcony or rooftop, check the floor rating before you fill it.
Is a stand worth adding?
On paving or timber, yes. A dedicated stand holds the curved base a little off the surface so water leaves the drainage holes freely rather than sitting against the floor and leaving a stain ring. Stands also give you height variation, which is useful when you group several spheres together rather than standing them all at the same level. Ask us which stand suits the size you are choosing.
