About TOV Fibreglass Cube Planter
Square planters live or die by their corners. Fill a metre-wide box with wet mix and a mature root ball and the long sides want to bow outward: the faces belly, the corners soften, and the clean line you bought the shape for disappears. TOV cubes are built with internal wall reinforcement to take the outward push of wet soil, so the 90-degree corners and flat vertical faces stay exactly as the mould made them through years outdoors.
Underneath, the floor is moulded with recessed drainage channels that lift the base contact points clear of the paving. Water leaving the drainage holes runs out from under the container instead of pooling beneath it, which keeps roots out of standing water through a wet winter and keeps algae rings and mineral staining off limestone pavers and timber decking.
Two sizes. The TOV421 (1000 x 1000 x 980 mm) holds enough potting mix for a specimen feature tree, a structural palm or a length of dense hedging, and keeps its proportions beside a broad residential drive or a commercial forecourt. The 60x60x60 (600 x 600 x 600 mm) suits entry porticos, patio corners and pool perimeters, usually in pairs or a repeated line, and pairs nicely with clipped buxus, agave, dwarf olive or a single frangipani.
Fibreglass gives you this scale at a fraction of the weight of concrete, which is the practical reason people choose it. A 600 mm cube is easy for two people to carry through a standard garden gate and simple to reposition on a patio once you see how the light falls. On a balcony or rooftop, check the floor rating before you fill it, and for a suspended slab have your builder confirm the load. The UV-stable exterior holds its colour through Perth summers, and the walls shrug off salt-laden coastal wind.

Which sizes does the TOV cube come in?
Two. The TOV421 measures 1000 mm long by 1000 mm wide by 980 mm high (100x100x98H), and the smaller cube measures 600 mm long by 600 mm wide by 600 mm high (60x60x60). The metre cube carries a feature tree or a run of hedging; the 600 mm size is the one most people buy in pairs for an entry or a patio corner. Both are in the Malaga showroom if you would like to compare them side by side.
What do the channels under the base actually do?
The underside is moulded with recessed runoff pathways. Water leaving the drainage holes follows them out from beneath the planter instead of sitting trapped under a flat base, which is what leaves a dark ring on paving.
How much potting mix will the TOV421 take?
Roughly 850 to 920 litres filled to normal planting depth. Lay a layer of coarse gravel over the drainage holes first, then fill with a quality container mix. Fill it once it is in position, since it is far easier to move empty.
Will the finish chalk or yellow in full Perth sun?
No. The exterior carries a UV-stabilised coating, so the colour and texture hold under Western Australian sun rather than yellowing, chalking or going brittle.
