The high-gloss Paprika does the rest of the work. Colour this strong holds a poolside terrace, an alfresco corner or a hospitality interior on its own, and it reads just as well empty as planted.
Underneath the colour is industrial marine fibreglass, sealed by a non-porous gloss coat so water never reaches the substrate. That is what lets these urns sit through Western Australia's UV load, winter downpours and fast temperature cycles without warping, chalking or cracking. The gloss has a second job as well: it picks up ambient daylight and runs it along the curve, which keeps the silhouette legible in a shaded courtyard.

Which sizes does the Calabash series come in?
Three. URN548 is the tall one at 1500 mm high by 410 mm diameter, URN549 sits mid-range at 1000 mm high by 350 mm diameter, and URN550 is the compact format at 620 mm high by 350 mm diameter.
Will the 1500 mm urn stay put on an exposed terrace?
Not without ballast. Pour 10 to 15 kg of coarse gravel, blue metal or clean river stone into the lower bulbous cavity first, and the urn is anchored to the deck or paving before any planting or internal container staging goes in. What keeps the high-gloss Paprika looking right?
Treat it the way you would treat car paint. Hose the dust off first so grit is not dragged across the coat, then wash with clean water and a mild car wash detergent or dishwashing liquid on a soft microfibre mitt. Abrasive powders and stiff scouring pads are the one thing to keep away from it — a gloss surface shows every scratch once the sun hits it side-on.
Do you plant straight into the urn, or use a liner?
Use a liner. The elongated neck and rounded lower body make full backfilling awkward, so we set potted nursery plants directly into the neck opening on a fitted plastic collar or saucer. You avoid lifting hundreds of litres of heavy soil, and seasonal floral changeouts take minutes.
Do these hold up in hotel foyers and restaurant courtyards?
Yes, and that is where a good share of them go — boutique hotel foyers, restaurant courtyards and corporate reception areas, on the strength of the gloss finish and the composite construction. Indoors, keep the base undrilled and run internal drip trays so watering runoff never reaches finished flooring.
